New things happenin’

So I am done with this blog you guys. I am keeping it up for a few more days. Just long enough for me to gather the people whom I follow and follow me. Sorry for slacking you guys. I’m getting back into the groove of things, almost. Check out my other blog. That’s where you’ll get the daily do or updates…what have you.

Here’s a photo of my recent doings.
I took some photos of a little girl a couple of days ago. It was my first time with portraits with my dslr. Not too bad in my opinion.

extra comfort

Here’s an oldy dug up from the archives. I’ve not been shooting lately. This was taken on Hwy 1 [west..I think] just before reaching Gunnison, Mississippi. Along this Hwy, you’re more likely to find run down shacks, farms and ghetto living.

Nothing new or excited going on these days. The website is coming along nicely. I remade 2 of the web pages and need to make 2 more, I think. My new photography blog is up and ready…well…I’ve not posted anything to it just yet. I’m saving that one for when I get back to the states. I’ll let you all know when I’m making the change. Speaking of blogs, I’ve decided to start rant blogging again. lol! I do too much ranting in this “photo” blog than I should. I’ve decided to actually make a special place for all that. So check it out if you want. It’s new and maybe three posts are up so far. 5% nation <— click here.

Memphis

© Chasiti Moore, 2008

If there’s one place I can’t wait to go to back in the states, it’s Memphis Tennessee. When I left the states, I was still a minor. So really experiencing “Beal Street” and Memphis the way it should be wasn’t too much of an option for me. I also can’t wait to get back and shoot the city.

Update on the website. It’s coming along nicely. Only a couple of more pages to make and I’m done with it. All I’ll have to do is shoot the Blues Scene back home and get the site up and running. Man, it’s taken up a lot of time. I’ve got my days and night completely backwards because of it. It’s worth it though. I’m thinking I  might shut this blog down around March and go ahead and get my other photoblog started. New everything, that’s the way I’m going.

I’ll still be keeping up with my followers and vise versa. Just a new blog..that’s all.

rebirth workshops. [Delta style]

For the creative at heart and those who share a love and passion for photography, there will be a workshop held in the Delta this spring.

To get technical with it, it will be held in Clarksdale, Ms at the Shack Up Inn…in the heart of the Blues and the Delta. Rebirth Workshops will be held from March 30-April 2, 2010. The deadline for registration is March 19th. Whomever is so totally interested in this, take a look around at the site to get the full effect on what’s up.

::: rebirth ::: workshops

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted something like this so bad to come to my hometown. That or for myself or someone I knew to open an art gallery in which I could spend the majority of my time at just hanging out and getting inspired. The art gallery part has already been established. Now, the workshop is coming through. I want to attend the workshop so badly. I can just feel it in my guts. BUT the timing and the expenses make it pretty much impossible for me to attend the actual workshop. =( Well that and the fact that I’m still stuck in limbo as to exactly when I’ll be home. I’ll find that out for sure in about a week or so. KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED.

But for real, check out the website. If you are interested in photography and the lifestyles of the Delta scene this is definitely something you don’t want to pass up.

ARRRRG!
This so aggravates me. Badly!
Maybe the workshops will host something near by later on that I can attend. ?? As much as I wish I could go or just attend, I will not let this “upset” me. Hey, I live in the Delta. All I have is time to explore it. But there is nothing like exploring with new people with the same interest as yourself. There’s nothing like going through photographs together.

With all that being said, I’ll end this post with a couple of  pictures from home, the Delta/Clarksdale, Ms.
Oh how I can’t wait to get back to the humidity, the smell of dirt and sound of bugs. =)

It all started in the Delta

For as long as I can remember, I’d always have my camera in my hand back home. Always making the run down places of the Delta look more alive. Well, at least I thought so. People always complimented me on my photographs and tell me how I find beauty in the negative, that I had a gift and only time will prove me better. I believed them then and I certainly believe them now. I’ve looked back at photos that people said they loved and I can’t help but think to myself, “Were these people smoking something to think that was a great photo?” Of course, times have definitely changed and the camera world is ever evolving into something awesome (and expensive).

Forever and a day, my camera in hand was a digital camera made by Samsung [which was awesome] and then an upgrade to a Canon powershot which was less mega pixels. In my opinion it was crappier than the 8 mp camera I had been using for almost 2 years. The spring/fall of 2008 I spent a lot of time venturing out and taking photos. It was something I decided to do to pass time while my husband was gone away due to his duties for Uncle Sam. The both of us thought it would have been a good thing for me. I was serious about my photography but I never thought I would have been this serious about it. I mean yeah, I had always dreamed of having a nice camera that took “Hallmark” photos for families and for personal use. But I didn’t think I’d ever have that dream. Within receiving one dream, another one developed and the dreams continue to be in the making.

I became really involved in photography in 2008 and only upgraded as much as possible afterward. I am slowly making a change in my work and myself. I can look back then and compare it to now and think, “Wow! I’ll never show these pictures to anyone else again.” ha! ha! But everyone starts somewhere. I honestly have to say that my passion for photography came at an early age. With me being bored with my town, I’d thought photographing it the way I saw it and the way I wish it was, would be the only way for me to stay sane. One thing led to another and before you know it, I had fallen in love with the town I hated so much. But isn’t that the way love goes?

I’d have to say, I owe it all to the Delta in Mississippi that gave me a spark and a passion. I’ll be back home in a few more months and I’m more than excited to take it on. I’m excited to take on the lifestyle and culture of my home with a different camera, a different way of “seeing” and deeper passion for life and what is given to me.

With that being said and with me in the mood of showing off  “my Best Of”, I’m posting mine for the Delta.
Just check out the links below for the two postings.

ENJOY!
